Vladimir Putin Completely Owns Donald Trump Again
On display again with this administration’s shameless ambush of Volodymyr Zelensky.
Putin Completely Owns Donald Trump: After bragging many times on the campaign trail that he would settle the Russia-Ukraine war “even before the Inauguration,” here we are months later in a master class with former KGB spy master, psy op specialist and world-class political chess player Vladimir Putin, showing us how real manipulation is done. While all dictators and Dear Leaders engage in non-stop efforts to perfect their villainy, some are just better at it than others.
Yes, the Russian people have a problem with their own Liar-in-Chief at the top too, “flooding the zone” of their minds with endless “shit,” as Steve Bannon so artfully put it. But just in case right-wing media propaganda has de-stabilized your common sense and convinced you Vladimir Putin’s bald-faced lies and endless propaganda have some sort of legitimacy, actual polls have shown that only 2% of the American public have a favorable opinion of the man.
Of course, our own wannabe Dear Leader sides with that 2% and, boy, has it ever put him in a bind! How can he openly screw over Ukraine on behalf of the big, bad man crush he has on this guy and everything he stands for, without totally exposing what a traitor he’s been for nearly 40 years now?
But Why, Oh Why, Is He Called “The Donald”?
Why this infatuation with all things Putin and Russia’s faux democracy and exploitative, socio-economic system (relative to that of the US, and that’s a pretty low bar), has been the stuff of endless speculation. Do they really have pee-pee tapes on him? Does he do it for the money, a recurrent motive of all American double agents who betray their country? Or is “This Fucking Guy”[1] all about cynicism, “scoundrel-ism,” malignant narcissism, and “overweening ambition”?
The correct answer is probably all three and more. Good luck trying to probe the bottomless pathology of this stunningly-complicated and contradictory man. But one thing is for sure. Donald Trump’s klutzy ineptness at gaslighting the world has apparently worked well enough for him thus far, at least enough to get him “re-elected” again. This is the price his clueless followers pay for the luxury of “making liberals cry”—their very lives crashing and burning down around them. But at least they’ve shown those woke Democrats a thing or two!
More to the point, does Donald Trump perhaps not want to make America great after all, but actually make America Russia, a klepto-capitalist mafia state? Does he want to make himself America’s Putin, a leader who presides over a country whose lines of demarcation between legitimate business, organized crime, intelligence and government have all been blurred? According to sworn testimony before Congress by Michael Cohen, Trump’s former enforcer, Donald Trump has always been enthralled and envious of Putin’s iron-fisted power and stolen wealth, but of course, what would Michael Cohen know about him?
He’s Just A Jealous Guy, But What’s The Problem? (Gal 5:21; James 3:16; Prov 6:34, etc.)
Donald Trump is such a petty man, such a small soul if he even has one, that his decisions may be motivated by little more than rank jealousies of other people and deeply-held resentments, often directed toward innocent people for having done the right thing. His creepy speech at the DOJ on March 14, itself a breach of separation of powers decorum, treating it like it’s now his own personal prosecutorial agency, exhorting them to railroad January 6 Committee members for the gall of actually investigating his Insurrection, speaks for itself. After whining forever about how the remarkably-restrained Merrick Garland DOJ was “weaponized against him,” he now does the very thing himself.
Likewise, his blather about annexing Canada may be motivated by nothing more than his open jealousy of the good-looking and popular former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, and how the women in Trump’s life swoon all over the man. His attempt to insult Trudeau by referring to him as “Governor” (of a US state), his punitive tariffs aimed at one of our closest trading partners, his pathetic attempt to paint Canadians no less, as “nasty, nasty people,” may be nothing more than “policy” born of such deep-seated resentments and jealousies. Or may be simply his right to reorder the entire world according to his entitlement to fantasy and fiat, take your pick.[2]
Either way, where is there anything good to be gained here? Worse yet, is Vladimir Putin whispering “ideas” like punitive tariffs into Trump’s famously macro-economic ignorant brain, designed to destroy the US for good?
Ditto For Zelenskyy
The same can be said about his animus towards Volodymyr Zelenskyy, one of the most courageous heads of state I have witnessed in my lifetime. It all might be traceable back to little more than the latter’s refusal to smear Joe Biden, leading to Trump’s first impeachment in 2019.
At a time when Ukraine desperately needed the aide Congress had already appropriated to them, Trump had the cheek to shake him down for a “favor” Zelenskyy wouldn’t go along with. All he had to do was announce he was opening a corruption investigation on Biden, then quietly drop the matter, and Trump and his fellow Republican demagogues would “take it from there.”
The goal was to insinuate and cover Biden with as much mud and innuendo as they could conjure up, no doubt with a lot of Russian talking points. In fact, the whole “Hunter Biden laptop” flap had all the marks of a typical Russian smear operation.
On the other hand, it may just be that Trump shares Putin’s warlord philosophy of entitlement to pick on any weaker nation they feel like stealing from, that little losers like Zelenskyy need to be “rubbed out.” It’s this kind of self-serving bullying that is exactly what led to the chronic “Yankee go home” revulsion which has always undermined any effort by US foreign policy to actually spread democracy around the world. Rank jingoism is the pathetic Republican base’s long-standing idea of how “a real man” acts.
I remember distinctly when Russia invaded Ukraine in February of 2022 exactly what Trump’s reaction to this shocking breach of international law was, that it was “genius,” a “savvy move” by Putin, that all those Russians tanks were “real peacekeepers.” Joe Biden in contrast had “no response.” Spare me.
The Wit and Wisdom of Donald Trump
Yes, isn’t it all “so very sad?” But of course, in Donald Trump’s upside-down view of Enlightenment and Christian values[3] the complete opposite was true. Putin justified this bald-faced aggression by pretending he was liberating Ukraine from Nazis, don’t you know, when he’s the darling of the Western world’s neo-Nazis. He has always whined that NATO was encroaching on “Russia’s security,” when it was democracy and rule of law free market economics that was threatening his grip on power. The last thing he could afford was a Slavic nation on his border enjoying Western-style freedom and prosperity. It’s an idea that might catch on, after all.
Thus, the invasion was initially a disaster for Lord Putin, whose army was riddled with corruption and therefore not prepared. Far from being “peacekeepers” as Trump’s perverse brain saw it, invading Russian tanks were the very definition of “disturbers of the peace” (Prov 22:10). But between the overly-cautious dribs and drabs of Biden’s response, and 11 months of Republican obstruction in Congress, withholding aide from Ukraine, we all saw what happened. The Pentagon’s bid to take the occasion to “degrade the Russian army” was stymied, and instead of being carried out of the Kremlin in a body bag, Putin managed to survive and rebuild his army.
Fast-forward three years now, and our own home-grown American flim-flam artist/Russian asset has managed to fool half of America again. He’s back in the White House, and it’s time to “bring peace,” to “end all this horrible bloodshed.” How thoughtful of him. Perhaps he could win a Nobel Peace Prize if only all those “far, far left” Swedes weren’t so woke.
Spare me again. Donald Trump wants to bring peace? This wicked man whose very mouth is constantly covered in violence (Prov 10:6,11)? What side in any war hasn’t wanted “to bring peace,” as long as it’s on their terms? For every aggressor warlord in history, that means total victory, no matter whether they started it themselves, or how brutal they’ve prosecuted it.
This is partially what it means when the prophecy says of the Antichrist, that “by peace he shall destroy many” (Dan 8:25), because when he “negotiates,” he makes impossible, even cruel demands of the weak side, even if they’re in the right. He then turns it around and gives the farm away to aggressive predators, because that’s who he is himself, the kind of people he calls “winners.”
And he’s just getting started. Wait until he “solves” the Palestinian problem by saying they must vacate enmasse, while he and Bibi cut self-serving deals to build luxury resorts over the graves of women and children American bombs have obliterated.
Oh wait, that’s right! He already has!
Like Jesus said, “The tree is known by its fruit” (Mt 12:33; Luke 6:44).
“I Don’t Need A Ride; I Need Ammo”
During the campaign, Trump bragged repeatedly about how he was going to settle the Russia-Ukraine war “even before the Inauguration.” Why? Because being the pathetic Hollywood-style name-dropper he is, he “knows these two men very, very well.” Well, of course he does. All he’s gotta do is get on the phone, and the famous Trump charm will take over and do its magic.
It was not settled before the Inauguration of course, nor on Day One. No, that was reserved for more pressing matters, like 78 dictats—I’m sorry, executive orders—undoing the “national crisis” brought on by the insufferable Biden years. But eventually, after seven destructive and chaotic weeks of his own, Lord Trump got around to “ending all the senseless slaughter” of the Ukraine War. Very big of him.
To do so, he had to as usual, sully the heroic and white-wash the evil. In other words, to basically invert reality which, admittedly, he is a specialist at.
He began by doing what the Trump brand does best—publish a 12-year old girl mean tweet, smearing the little Ukrainian David, claiming that Zelenskyy was a “dictator” who only garnered a 4% approval rating within his battered and vulnerable population. Gaslighting accomplished. The actual truth, if Trump’s “Truth Social” propaganda outlet even cares, is that Zelenskyy still stands at 57%, in spite of all the temptations to blame their leader these long-suffering and valiant people have had to endure.
Zelenskyy, a former comedian who was catapulted into the actual presidency after playing a kind of President Bartlet/West Wing character on TV, was distained by Vladimir Putin who considered him to be a joke, a “light-in-the-loafers” non-entity, a pushover who could be easily overthrown.
Wow, was he ever wrong. Far from cutting tail and running, when Russia invaded, Zelenskyy was offered asylum by the United States, but he surprised the world with his famous heroic statement, “I don’t need a ride; I need ammo.”
From there he rallied his nation to do the unthinkable to cynics like Putin and Trump—to actually shoot back! The rest is history, and I’m still wondering what the Hollywood movie will look like.
This is the actual story of Putin’s arrogant, high-handed, international law-violating invasion of a nation desperately seeking the approval and protection of the West, no matter how much cocky, botoxed, bronzer dictators like him and Trump seek to gaslight us all and re-write the story.
The Art of the So-Called “Deal”
Being too full of himself and always over-estimating his talents, Donald Trump is of course no great negotiator after all. Aside from the fact that he cheats at practically everything he does, much of this fault comes from the fact that he distains normal “deal making.” In normal negotiations with normal people, everyone understands that the right outcome is a win-win situation. Each party has something the other wants, and they hopefully pound out a fair deal.
Lord Trump is not this way. Being a predator at heart, he’s not satisfied unless he comes away with everything, and the other party is left broken and bleeding.[4] On the other hand, if that other party refuses to play by these rules and his intimidating tactics, Trump will simply fold his cards and walk away, then make up twisted and slanderous stories to explain to everyone what happened. A “deal” to him is a deal for him, nothing for you.
So, to get around that embarrassing 2% approval rating for Putin in the minds of ordinary Americans, Trump had to proceed cautiously, to create an alternate reality in our minds in order to pervert justice and please his real role model, Vladimir Putin.
Setting The Trap
Having set everything up and getting all his minions to suspend their judgment and buy into his alternate reality, Trump lured a desperate and abandoned Ukrainian President into a disgraceful ambush at the White House. Having pumped him full of intimidations that he had “no cards to play” with his situation, Trump offered him nothing in return for this second time he’s shaking him down, this time in return for “half the mineral wealth” of Ukraine, which the United States government “needed.” If only he would sign on the dotted line, we would guarantee him…well, nothing in return.
Somehow, cynical dictator that he is, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, felt he needed at least in writing, US guarantees their security, should they agree to a cease fire with Russia. This of course the Trump administration held out like a carrot on a stick without a “full-throated” commitment, unlike the kind of groveling they later demanded of him.
But it’s all good. In a desperate attempt to believe that the new American administration actually has a beating heart, Zelenskyy agreed to travel to Washington to finalize a deal, publicly or otherwise, to get the purported “Leader of the Free World,” the United States, to guarantee Ukrainian security.
What he walked into was a trap by any objective standard. “Just minutes after reporters asked their first questions, an aggressive spat unfolded between the heads of state that left officials behind the scenes scrambling to understand how the situation fell apart so quickly.”
Yeah, gee whiz. Who could have seen this gangland setup coming? Zelenskyy found himself before the cameras, the world press, and an intimidating array of White House shills in a “good cop, bad cop” scenario. The appropriately-named JD Vance ,[5] Vice-President of the US, before the world’s cameras, began the trap by berating this man for “not being thankful enough” for all the self-serving help the US has thus far given him. While Zelenskyy tried his level best to protest that he has thanked the US multiple times for their help, they were not satisfied. He “disrespected the white House” by not showing up in a suit (unlike Elon Musk, Kid Rock and a long list of other Damon Runyon characters). He hasn’t sufficiently groveled before all these yes-men and women Lord Donald Trump has empowered to “pervert all justice” (Lev 19:15), and present before the world an inverted view of reality.
Zelenskyy, the true “leader of the free world” at this point, ironically sat there having to endure insult after insult by these Putin-loving pretenders. They then abruptly ended the photo session and summarily ejected him out the White House back door, though both Britain and his own people gave him a hero’s welcome for defending their dignity. End of Act One.
Act Two
When it comes time for Trump to assume the role of greatness he obviously deserves through a charm offensive with Putin, gee whiz, what do we find but a lesser vassal groveling before a greater potentate.
It all starts with the sending of Trumps’ “envoy” to Russia, fellow billionaire real estate lawyer and investor Steve Witkoff, now elevated to ambassador status despite his dearth of experience in such a treacherous world. Arriving in Moscow the day before Trump’s much-anticipated “summit” call with Vladimir Putin to follow through on a proposed 30-day cease-fire, Witkoff was unceremoniously left at the airport for 8-9 hours. It was a stunning insult by international diplomatic standards, but seen as a typical “power play” by Vladimir Putin, dictator of Russia and master psy opper.
After enduring such a humiliation however, Witkoff said, “I don’t regard Putin as a bad guy… I thought he was straight up with me.” Of course. Great conclusion Alpha Man. Vladimir Putin is one of the most skillful manipulators and deceivers on the planet, the very definition of a Bond villain. Trump had to assail the news media of course for the report, with an hysterical meltdown on Truth Social, calling it “fake news” by “sick degenerates” (aka journalists).
All this was followed up the next day by Trump himself getting humiliated with a one hour wait by Putin in a scheduled “high summit” phone call. Putin at the time was being interviewed before hundreds of Russia’s oligarchs. When asked by the moderator about how it was time for his phone call with Donald Trump and isn’t he wanting to get to that?, Putin responded with an “insider joke’ to all those in attendance, about how “he (the President of the United States!) could wait,” was received by all that audience with much satisfaction. After all, if Russians have anything to glory in at all, it’s their bottomless national pride and need to “own” the United States.
Getting tired of winning yet? Think they’re still “laughing at us”?lawyerlawyer
Whistling Past The Russian Cemetery
“Matt Duss, the executive vice president at the Center for International Policy, said Mr. Trump has put on a “dominance display” throughout his career, both as a businessman and politician.” “He approaches foreign policy, the U.S.-led order, as a protection racket,” Mr. Duss said. “If you want protection, you have to show respect to the boss, and you’ve got to pay upstairs.” No kidding.
Putin and Russian planners clearly want more of Europe to eat up. They’ve been talking a long time about the “raw deal” Stalin got at Yalta in 1945, and Putin seems to look upon old “Uncle Joe” as his role model. Western useful idiots like Elon Musk always help by this instance of re-tweeting (then deleting) that Hitler, Stalin and Mao Tse Tung did not murder millions of people but rather their “public sector workers” did. How’s that for a two-fer? You gloss over your good buddy’s love for Stalin while insinuating the federal workers you’re dis-employing without so much as a hearing, all in one head-exploding statement.
It seems like since forever that Donald Trump has been belly-aching about how America is such a disaster, is such a sucker, is being so “ripped off” by the rest of the world, that “everyone is laughing at us.” In doing so, he has been the perfect, traitorous Absalom, “stealing the hearts of the people” by demagoguing Israel as “a disaster of a kingdom.”
This at a time of the nation’s greatest height under his famous father David. But to be sure, smearing and demonizing “the libs” for every ill under the sun including toe nail fungus, has been the snake oil Republicans have been plying their clueless base with for decades now. The emergence of a con man who has all those skills in spades only makes sense, but it’s going to end in their own demise all the same (Rev 16:19).
